Founded in October 2018, 4MyCiTy is powered by a dedicated team of six part-time employees and a remarkable group of volunteers. Instead of having a CEO, our organization is led by the Board of Directors, with direct guidance from the Founder and Executive Director. The primary focus of 4MyCiTy is to provide assistance to those in need.
Our success stems from the tremendous support we receive from thousands of volunteers and partners across the country. We are grateful for their unwavering commitment, which allows us to make a positive impact in the lives of many. It's important to note that all members of our Board of Directors serve voluntarily and without compensation, driven solely by their dedication to advancing our initiatives.
At 4MyCiTy, we prioritize the importance of environmental sustainability, specifically in relation to the sustainable management of food and addressing food waste. Our project revolves around four key phases that together form our ZERO Waste to ZERO Hunger initiative. Through this initiative, we strive to combat hunger while simultaneously implementing strategies to protect our planet from the harmful effects of organic waste.
Since our incorporation in October 2018, 4MyCiTy has made a significant impact by distributing over 225 million pounds of food to families facing hunger, providing an estimated 187 million healthy meals.
Phase 1 - Source Reduction: We focus on reducing food waste in the wholesale and retail distribution industry.
Phase 2 - Feed the Hungry: Our efforts are directed towards eliminating hunger within our communities through effective distribution of rescued food.
Phase 3 - Industrial/Commercial Use: We emphasize the creation of bio-degradable products or usable soil through the utilization of food waste.
Phase 4 - Composting: Our advanced composting technologies minimize the detrimental effects of organic waste on our environment.
Education plays a crucial role in our initiative, as we emphasize the importance of reducing food waste at various stages. By addressing hunger and the potential negative impacts of organic waste in landfills and incinerators, we strive for a more sustainable future.
